To help us understand what has happened and what the implications are for business we are delighted to welcome Ian Cheshire (CEO, Kingfisher plc), Steve Howard (CEO, The Climate Group), Peter Betts (Director of International Climate Change, DECC) and Abyd Karmali (President, CMIA). They will, in turn, cover:
What it means for your business
Much has happened since our pre-Copenhagen event in early November. Then things were very negative, but since then China, India and the USA have all made very positive moves. Balancing that has been the rise of the deniers/sceptics and the email scandal. The outcome is very difficult to call; as one expert pundit put it to me last week, it feels like waiting for a roulette wheel to stop on red or black.
The aim is to forge international consensus, that in turn provides the kind of certainty societies and businesses need to invest. First we need that agreement and then the devil is in the detail. The important question for all our panellists will be to pick out the policy instruments that will prevail - and the opportunities and threats that they will carry with them. Please reserve your place now.
